The event at Colne Muni saw year 12 students honoured, whose five years at Primet came to an end on GCSE results day in summer.

Among those in attendance were chair of governors Dave Roberts and interim chief executive of Pendle Education Trust Louise Green.

Lucas Popovici, 16, from Nelson, said: “I am now doing A-levels at Nelson and Colne College and I feel school prepared me very well for it.

“It has felt very nostalgic coming back and seeing everyone again, and I felt really excited to get my subject award in maths, one of my favourite subjects.

“I would like to say thank you to everyone at Primet for the support and help they gave me at school.”

The event, which was hosted by drama teacher Howard Raw, also saw a musical number and a dance routine, performed by students.

Other highlights on the evening included the success of Hannah Marshall, who picked up straight A* and A grades in her GCSE exams.

Hannah not only won the subject awards for English literature, separate sciences and computing, but also the coveted Student of the Year for Achievement Award as well.

Headteacher Lynne Blomley said: “Our awards ceremony is always a highlight of the Primet calendar, and once again it did not disappoint.

“It was a pleasure to see so many of our students recognised for their dedication and commitment across all year groups, and it was lovely to catch up with our year 12s, many of who are now enjoying exciting new chapters at College, in apprenticeships or in jobs.

“The evening also provided an opportunity to reflect on the array of student success stories following GCSE Results Day, as well as improvements in subjects such as English, geography and drama, the pass rate of which doubled from last year.

“Thanks to all who attended the evening, and made it such a success.”
