FLEDGING young boxer Bria Fielding is hoping to pick up a few tips from Olympian Natasha Jonas when she visits Accrington Academy on Wednesday.

Natasha will be helping inspire students including 16-year-old Bria, when she visits her school as part of Sky Sport’s Living for Sport programme, of which she is an Athlete Mentor.

The visit has also been arranged in conjunction with the Youth Sport Trust Combat Hub.

Having recently retired from the sport, Natasha first started boxing eight years ago, when her dedication and determination saw her shed 4kg to enter the 60kg class of the European Union Championships in 2009, where she went on to win the gold medal.

She also made history in 2012 when she became the first ever woman to box for Great Britain, later going on to win a silver medal at the European Championships.

Natasha said: “Sport filled a void in my life, gave me direction, focus and the scope to see that I am in control of my own destiny.

“I strongly believe that it can have the same positive effects for the young people we are meeting.”

Bria Fielding, who has recently returned from Serbia where she represented England in the 4th Nations Cup, will be at the front of the queue to meet Natasha.

Bria said: “It will be a fantastic opportunity to learn from her.”
