A VILLAGE pub with a canine-friendly policy is attracting dog lovers from all over Lancashire.

The Royal Arms, Tockholes, is listed on dog- friendly pub websites and is hailed for allowing dogs into the lounge and bar areas.

As a result, dog lovers keen to enjoy a drink with their four-legged friend regularly pop in from the Bolton and Chorley areas and even as far afield as Blackpool.

Landlady Isa Lennox-Moore, who runs the pub with her husband Nick, said: "It's like Crufts here - dogs everywhere. Thankfully, they are usually well behaved and we are pleased to say we've never had one dog fight."

Mrs Lennox-Moore said they had two dogs of their own that happily mingled with visiting dogs and were not in the least territorial.

The pub also has doggy regulars including Mr Bond, a Belgium shepherd, and a Labrador called Zak, who is partial to lapping up the slops of local brew Bobbins Bitter.

Mrs Lennox-Moore added that dogs were not allowed in the dining area.
