PLANS to build a 7-metre wind turbine at a farm in Tockholes have been refused by the council.
Gerald Dunbar, of Bridge Barn, Rock Lane, submitted an application in November to build the turbine to the north of stables on his land, near to St Stephen’s Church in Chapel Lane.
The bid stated the ‘mini’ turbine was to provide some electricity for the site and the turbine had a 3.8-metre blade length, designed to produce 2,000w of power at low wind speeds.
It was refused because insufficient detailed acoustic data was provided, and the council was unable to assess sufficiently whether it would lead to unacceptable noise .
