MUSICAL theatre lovers are in for a treat – and can support a local cause at Darwen Library Theatre on Friday and Saturday.

Pepperpot Hill Theatre Company returns to their home town venue to stage Beltin’ Out Broadway 3D, a compilation of songs from the shows.

Following on from their previous award-winning revues, the Darwen-based company is, this time, raising money for the Sam Shaw Appeal.

Friends and family of the Hoddlesdon four-year-old are seeking to raise £250,000 to pay for life-saving treatment in the USA, after he was diagnosed with the aggressive childhood cancer neuroblastoma at the start of the year.

Pepperpot Hill spokeswoman Anne Ingham said: “We have been fund-raising for Sam this year, and had two events in May and June with our Songs For Sam evenings of show tunes at the Masonic Hall and Darwen Catholic Club raising £2,200 for his appeal.

“The proceeds from our raffle at Beltin Out Broadway will be going to Sam’s fund, so we would really like to see some large audiences supporting this local family.”

The show will feature solos, duets and ensemble numbers from hit musicals, such as Lion King, Les Miserables, Summer Holiday, Oliver!, A Little Night Music, Sunset Boulevard, Hairspray and Evita, among others.

Performances take place at 7.30pm, with tickets costing £10, concessions £8, by calling 01254 706006.
