AN East Lancashire singer is on the verge of stardom after recording a hit single with global superstars Akon and Snoop Dogg.

Amy Louise Aldred — stage name Redd — may not have made it through bootcamp in last year’s X Factor, but the 22-year-old’s dreams are still coming true.

Her track, Redd featuring R&B/rapper kings Akon and Snoop Dogg — I’m A Day Dreaming, was released for download in Germany over the weekend and has gone straight into the charts.

It is currently number two in the Hip Hop chart and number 26 in the main chart, and the video got nearly half-a-million hits in the first 72 hours after it was uploaded on YouTube.

Amy, from Edgworth, said the past few weeks had been “crazy” and her family have even put up their Christmas decorations early to celebrate her success!

“I think my mum and dad are more hyped up than me! They are putting up the Christmas decorations because we are all so excited,” she said.

Since appearing on last year’s X Factor, the former University of Bolton student has made singing her career.

She performs regularly around the North West and recently sang at Blackpool’s Christmas lights switch-on.

“Everything went really quiet for about two months and then this happened, it’s so crazy,” said Amy.

“I am really happy but the hard work doesn’t stop here.

“This is a platform now where I can start really pushing and excelling as an artist and trying to get the name Redd known worldwide.

“I’m so hungry for it. It’s all I want to do.”

Amy was approached by a Los Angeles record label to record vocals for the track, which was released by German label Kontour.

She has not yet met Snoop Dogg or Akon and said she is excited at the prospect of performing live with them.

Amy is also taking part in Open Mic UK and has reached the semi-finals of the competition, which gives the winner a record contract.
