A MOTORCYCLIST dragged under a car after a collision was rescued when the driver and a passenger lifted the VW Golf off him.

But Blackburn magistrates heard the driver’s heroic actions were tainted by the fact that he was banned driver.

Ainsley Booth, 20, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance. He was made subject to community supervision for nine months, banned from driving for 12 months and fined £135 with £145 costs.

Philippa White, prosecuting, said Booth was driving along High Street, Belmont, when he collided with a Kawasaki which pulled on to the road.

Mrs White said: “The rider and the bike were dragged under the car before it came to a halt. There is nothing in the file to suggest the accident was the defendant’s fault.”

She said Booth, from Bolton, was banned until he took an extended re-test.

Booth told the court he wasn’t speeding and the bike pulled out in front of him.

He said he bought the car because his driving ban was due to end and he wanted to be ready to take his re-test.

Passing sentence, the chairman of the magistrates said they had noted that after the accident Booth and a friend lifted the car off the motorcyclist.
