Plea to find relatives of Hoddlesden’s war dead

RELATIVES of fallen soldiers are being sought for a memorial rededication service in Hoddlesden.

The First World War memorial in Queens Square, Hoddlesden, features the names of 44 soldiers who died in the Great War and one who died in the Falklands.

A service will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2011.

The names are: William Ainsworth, Joseph Booth, Joseph Bowker, Thomas Briggs, Thomas H Briggs, Robert Briggs, William Briggs, Gabriel Canovan, James Canovan, John Crompton, Thomas Cooper, Ralph Drinkwater, William Duckworth, John Duerden, Benjamin Entwistle, John Gilligan, Arthur Harwood, Edmund Harwood, Frank Harwood, Hubert Harwood, George Haworth, George H Haworth, Christopher Heap, Benjamin Holden, Edward Houghton, Henry Houghton, Albert Irwin, Thomas Johnson, Peter Jones, William Leach, Howard Marsden, Norman Marsden, Martin Pilkington, Clifford Riley, Philip Riley, Joseph Smith, Robert Summerfield, Wellington Townsend, John Waddicor, Edward Walsh, John W Watson, John West, John Whittaker, Herbert Wood and Robert Youd.
