SCARECROWS popped up all over Hoddlesden as villagers celebrated the annual festival.
The East Rural Scarecrow Festival saw dozens of residents and school children design their own model creations.
The festivities took place on Saturday alongside the summer fair of St Paul’s CofE Primary School, in Bayne Street, and St Paul’s Church.
On Sunday, events were based at the Carus Centre, in Queen’s Square.
Participants had to make sure their creations were visible from public land in either Hoddlesden, Waterside, Eccleshill, Belthorn or Blacksnape.
Visitors voted for their favourite model and prizes and rosettes were awarded to the best examples.
The festival, which started in 2010, was spearheaded by Darwen councillor Julie Slater.
