Cannabis seized from two Darwen homes

MORE than 70 cannabis plants have been seized in Darwen.

Police raided two houses, acting on information received through Crimestoppers.

Officers executed a warrant in Greenway Street on Monday.

When they searched the area they discovered a total of 36 cannabis plants and hydro-ponic equipment used to grow the Class C drug set up in the loft.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

He was released on police bail until today.

Last Wednesday, officers seized 40 recently harvested cannabis plants and an extensive hydroponic equipment set up from a house in Sarah Street, Darwen.

A 39-year-old man was arrested and bailed until July 1.

Det Sgt Ian Geogarty, of Darwen CID said: "This demonstrates our commitment to protecting the people of Darwen.

"Anyone suspected of possessing or supplying drugs will be targeted and I urge people to continue to provide information anonymously on Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
