MINIATURE replicas of Darwen's most famous landmark have been placed in Sunnyhurst Wood.

The gold finials, created to commemorate the jubilee of Darwen Tower, are to be used around the town as way-markers into the centre and along routes including walks to Darwen Tower.

The borough council is also considering placing them at Ashton Park, Shorey Bank, Blacksnape Playing Fields leading down to Hoddlesden and the green land off Sough Road.

There are plans to create hundreds more from the original mould.

The finials had been attached to that stretch of railings for more than five years and were taken away when regeneration work began in Darwen town centre.
