THE three-way partnership in charge of Blackburn with Darwen council will continue after party leaders held talks.

The Conservative, Liberal Democrat and For Darwen coalition has been running the council since last May.

Following the elections on May 1, final power-sharing details have to be agreed and the new executive board will be formally agreed at a full council meeting on Thursday.

With 34 Conservative, Lib Dem and For Darwen councillors, the coalition have enough members to vote through its preferred executive board.

After the talks on Friday night, Tory council leader Colin Rigby said: "What was agreed was that the partnership was going to continue, we are just tying the details up now."

The Conservatives are to propose the same executive board members - Michael Lee, Michael Law-Riding, Alan Cottam and John Slater, Coun Rigby added.

Liberal Democrat leader David Foster said: "We spent most of the meeting talking about the needs of the two towns, and can now agree on a programme forward."

I\'m sorry but I do not agree with the other comments. I say carry on with the good work you did last year, we will see what the Referendum on Darwen Town Council gets on in September 08 etc. Good luck.
The sooner Blackburn gets can say good riddence to Darwen the better. Let's see how these pathetic nobheads get on without us bailing them out all the time. Darwen deserves crooks like Rigby, Melia and Foster to run their own town hall. The money will stop comming into the crap town. Once that happens, I think any Darweners that want to work or come into Blackburn needs to apply for a visa, so that we know when the bloodsuckers arrive and leave. A few months with these 3 crooks running your poxy town, you lot will soon open your eyes. You've never had it so good being partnered to Blackburn.

Zero Star Dodgy Rats, Blackburn says...

These 3 parties are crooked extremists. The borough will no doubt get a zero rating when inspection, it will get a zero. The only people happy will be one or 2 Directors and croony senior staff who will have thier incompeternces hidden by the disaster and chaos caused by the 3 stoogies. The days of 4 star ratings under labour are gone. This will take decades to correct.
