Darwen driver wins ‘bus stop’ fine appeal

A DRIVER penalised for parking at a disused bus stop has had her ticket cancelled.

Lynn Dewse was shocked to discover the ticket on her car after leaving it outside Holker House, in Railway Road, Darwen.

The bus stop was put up during the revamp of the bus station and has not been used for years.

Lynn, 44, of Marquis Close, Lower Darwen, had appealed against the fine and said it had now been rescinded.

She said: “I would like to thank all the people of Darwen who have supported me, including Councillor Paul Browne.”

Coun Browne said: “I knew it would be cancelled and the decision is quite right. It is a good result.”

He added that he planned to bring up the bus stop issue at the highways and planning committee meeting today in a bid to have it removed completely.

So all you previous posters that commented on the earlier story saying she was in the wrong and should pay the fine now find themselves in the wrong for suggesting that

I personally said if I remember rightly that if it were a temporary stop then the legals would not be correct so the ticket could not stand. Also said she probably deserved a fine for parking in that and no doubt many other illegal spots so didn't feel sorry.
Happy ending for the driver....

while they wait for the bus stop to be removed why dont they put a cover over it and tell the traffic wardens that this is no longer a bus stop then no-one else will have to go through what this lady has gone through, great work Paul we could do with more councillors like you.
