Darwen Leisure Centre swimming pool closed for repairs

THE swimming pool at Darwen Leisure Centre has been closed to allow essential maintenance.

Blackburn with Darwen Council said both the main and small pool could be closed for a couple of weeks, but a clearer understanding of the length of the closure period would be available following a thorough inspection.

Local swimming clubs, community groups, and schools, were being informed about the closure, and the council said it was working to find alternative provision.

The remainder of the building remains open as usual.

Coun Damian Talbot, executive member for leisure, said: “We are disappointed that the pool has had to be closed and we are working hard to ensure it is reopened as soon as possible. We appreciate how popular it is among members of the public, community groups, swimming clubs, and schools.

“It is one of the borough’s most well-used leisure facilities and we will keep customers updated about when it is reopening.”

What - it is going to fall down or legionnaires? I know the inlets/outlets there and changing room are full of dust. Someone or a company has made one heck of a mistake - no way is this planned work.

Wouldn't be surprised if the reason they are giving is true. Some of the work in the changing rooms above head height is un tidy to say the least. One place you can see how metal was cut wrong and used. They plan these things for ages so shouldn't happen. Lot of weight.

You are right capitaBackHander. It is a new Leisure Centre.

That's what one gets when the Council get Cowboy Builders to do the work.
