Blackburn and Darwen can have say on council budget cuts

RESIDENTS in Blackburn and Darwen can have their say on council services following £33million cuts to the budget.

Blackburn with Darwen Council wants to know what people think is most important, and is urging them to fill out an online survey, or post back a questionnaire.

The online form, and downloadable questionnaire, are available at www.blackburn.gov.uk
Coun Andy Kay, executive member for resources, said: “It’s important that people are able to understand what their council tax pays for, and we also want to continue to talk as a community about the impact of these cuts, and discuss priorities.”

Special ‘Your Services, Your Call’ post boxes will be in the receptions at Blackburn Town Hall, Darwen Town Hall, Blackburn and Darwen Libraries, and Darwen Leisure Centre.

A meeting for ratepayers and voluntary organisations is taking place in the council chamber, Blackburn Town Hall, on Monday, February 6, at 6pm.

Anybody who would like to attend should contact Wendy Johnson on 01254 585167, or email wendy.johnson@blackburn.gov.uk
