BRINGING the world into the classroom has earnt a primary school a prestigious award.

Newlands Spring Primary School, in Dickens Place, Chelmsford, has been awarded the British Council’s International School Award.

The accolade recognise efforts by schools to incorporate international education within the curriculum, such as through links with partner schools overseas.

Susannah Edom-Baker, headteacher said: “At Newlands Spring, we attach a great deal of importance to links with our local, national and global community and these links are integral to our curriculum planning and delivery.

“As part of this work we are twinned with Bwobo Manam Primary School in Uganda and I feel that the education of the children is enriched by the understanding of this global perspective.”

The school is one of 800 in the UK that has received the accreditation this year.
