CUSTOMERS at a Darwen beauty salon are getting back to their roots!
A 1904 photograph of Blackburn Road, Hollins Grove, looking towards the town centre now adorns the wall of the nail room at Design Hair and Beauty.
The building can be seen in the shot.
Owner David Scott said he was keen to preserve the town’s heritage and had searched ‘high and low’ to find the photograph.
He said: “I’m very keen on keeping the heritage of this area alive.
“I saw the photo on a friend’s computer and since then I’ve been trying to track it down.
“I’ve been through Darwen Library, Blackburn Library, and then I eventually asked the Lancashire Telegraph and they had it in their archives.”
The print was blown up from six inches by six inches to measure eight feet, by Darwen-based Canvas Designs.
Mr Scott added: “The customers are wowed. They say it’s wonderful.”
