A 14-year-old boy was headbutted and then kicked repeatedly by a man angry that a snowball had been thrown at his house.
Blackburn magistrates heard the boy and his friends had been playing outside the home of Graham David Wall when the snowball was thrown.
They all ran off but shortly after Wall appeared in his car and after all the other boys had again run off he confronted the 14-year-old.
Wall, 40, of Spring Vale Garden Village, Darwen, was convicted after a trial of assaulting the boy.
He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay £175 compensation and £775 costs.
Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said the boy fell to the floor after being headbutted and was then kicked as he lay there.
Wall then said to him: “If I see you or any of your inbred mates I’ll do it again.”
John Clish, defending, said his client was a man of previous good character.
Mr Clish said: “My client is a devoted family man and wants to put this behind him.”
