Extra £50,000 earmarked for Blackburn with Darwen road repairs

AN extra £50,000 for urgent highway repairs has been announced by Blackburn with Darwen Council.

The money will be spent on resurfacing and improving the condition of some of the worst affected roads across the borough — many of them hit by bad weather earlier in the year.

Coun Alan Cottam, executive member for regeneration and environment, said: “We are aware that many of the borough’s roads have been left in a bad state of repair since the snow.

“The extra funding is aimed at addressing the worst-affected ones.

"We know that it will not solve all the problems but we need to put safety first and tackle those which are in the worst state.”

Coun Colin Rigby, executive member for resources, added: “We are committed to investing to repair and maintain our roads.”

Well done the Labour Group on BWDBC you have finally shamed the Tories into doing something to repair the roads. Its a pity it's only £50K and I suppose even they have worked out there is an election coming up.

Just a note to Darwen with Blackburn council. If I hit the fecking huge crater on Borough Rd opposite James St West (Window Manu.) and it damages my new tyres or suspension then I will be claiming!
