VETERAN Darwen councillor Dave Hollings will not be seeking re-election in May.
The Sunnyhurst representative for Labour has been a borough councillor for 14 years, but is standing down due to personal demands on his time.
In the last two years he and his wife have had two children and Mr Hollings also has a full-time job.
He said: “Representing the people of Sunnyhurst Ward is a huge honour and not one to be taken lightly.
“I do not believe that anyone should seek public office, nor carry on in that office, if they are not able to give their full commitment to the people whom they represent.”
"I am not prepared to be a second best councillor and I do not think people of Sunnyhurst deserve this.
“I am not retiring from politics. I will continue to be involved in the Labour Party."

"on a related point please tell me what 4D has achieved, that has not been self-glorification." They were responsible for getting Labour out as far as your other point read the article

Perhaps if they spent less time behaving like children and doing something for the town we may appreciate them more. The last couple of years since Labour lost their majority has just shown what a complete bunch of complete prats they are. Not that I am saying that some of the other have not behaved any better. It would be nice to get some policies from someone instead of the ****. You were elected to serve the town not massage your egos.
Step Up Dave Smith

I have no idea who darwenred is but for the record some of the lies are,
All but one of the FDP voted for a bus lane, this has never been voted on in full council
They voted to close Darwen collection hall, again this has never been voted on in full council
Need I go on?
