BRIGHT LIGHTS: The town hall
DARWEN town centre’s Christmas celebrations got under way on Saturday with Paralympics silver medallist Felicity Coulthard switching on the lights.
Visitors also got the chance to enjoy a fireworks display and donkey procession.
There was a Christmas market and brass band to entertain shoppers.
The results of the Darwen local hero award were announced.
Gold winner was community worker Florentin Boudjeck; silver was Caitlin Jones, who raised money for cancer in memory of her father; and bronze was Chris Stephenson, for voluntary work.
