A FINANCIAL education charity has been chosen to receive a community fund.
Debt Advice Foundation in Darwen has been chosen as one of the latest beneficiaries of the Co-op’s local community fund
Over 10,000 children from 150 schools are currently receiving the charity’s free DebtAware money lessons, which seek to embed the knowledge, behaviours and attitudes that will enable them to manage their finances with confidence in the years to come.
Brian Souter, education manager at DebtAware added
“We believe that many people find themselves in serious debt because they have never been taught how to manage money. The whole ethos of DebtAware is that young people should be given the chance to learn money skills at the earliest opportunity.
“Through this fund, Co-op shoppers can raise money which will directly help us to ensure that financial education is in the heart of our local primary schools.”
