PROPOSALS to press ahead with a new £600,000 pavilion at a historic sports club have been backed by its social members.
A special meeting on Tuesday night also supported the modernisation of the Feniscowles and Pleasington War Memorial Trust's constitution.
An application for planning permission for the clubhouse will now be submitted to Blackburn with Darwen Council.
Legal agreements with developer Black Pearl for £345,000 of the cash to build the new pavilion on The Recreation Ground will now be finalised.
Former trustee Brian White said: "Members have never opposed to the development of a new clubhouse, but there are right and wrong ways to go about it.
"There has been a complete lack of communication with members. Hopefully the trustees have learned lessons."
The trust was set up in 1921 when the land was given to the public as a memorial to 36 local men who died in the First World War and the social club created in 1979.
Current trustee Cllr John Pearson said: "We need to modernise the trust;s constitution. We have held four special meetings with social members in a year.
"Hopefully we can now work together to raise the extra money we need.",
