AN exhibition of perfume as art opens at The Chapel Galleries at Blackburn's The Bureau. on Victoria Street tonight.

It is part of a national tour for Michael Borkowsky's work who show runs until April 24.

The exhibition Perfume as Practice celebrates and explores the possibilities of scent in art, showcasing 15 bespoke and diverse perfumes, each a portrait of an artist.

Mr Borkowsky said: "I'm really looking forward to exhibiting at The Chapel Galleries and revealing more about the processes and thoughts involved in devising the exhibition."

In his work as a 'Fine Art perfumer', he creates scent portraits by to creating fragrances that capture the essence of each artist.

Like other means of portraiture each is unique, complex and highly personal yet allows the audience to interpret them. By using the craft of perfumery, Mr Borkowsky highlights alternative ways of thinking about portraiture, scent and art in general.
