ARSONISTS doused a front door with petrol then set light to a home in Ewood.
Police are now appealing for information following the attack on the Blackburn property.
Officers were called by Lancashire Fire and Rescue about 9.20pm on Wednesday following reports of a fire in Sunny Bank Gardens.
The offenders approached the house at about 9pm and poured flammable liquid around the front door, police said.
They then set fire to the liquid before fleeing from the area.
Firefighters were called and quickly put out the blaze.
No one was inside the property at the time.
Det Sgt Mark Holland, of Lancashire Police, said: “We are appealing for witnesses following an arson attack in Blackburn.
“Offenders have targeted a property causing extensive damage. Thankfully the homeowner was not in at the time of the incident, with no injuries reported.
“If you saw anyone or anything suspicious in the area around the time of the offence, please call police.”
