A CONSERVATIVE association has raised more than £500 through a charity Burns Night supper.
Rossendale and Darwen Conservatives Association hosted the traditional evening celebrating the life of Scottish poet and lyricist Robert Burns last Thursday.
The event included a traditional Scottish menu featuring haggis, neaps and tatties, and entertainment was provided by traditional ceilidh band Quadrille.
The evening, which was attended by Rossendale and Darwen MP Jake Berry, also included a raffle which raised £600 for The Brain Tumour Charity.
The main prize in the raffle was a pair of touchline tickets to watch England vs Scotland at Murrayfield in the rugby union Six Nations tournament, donated by Sliders UK.
Cllr David Foxcroft said the association chose to support the charity after it provided his family with ‘incredible’ support.
He said: “The reason for choosing the charity was personal.
“They provided me and my family with incredible support over the last 12 months during my grandad Colin Nuttall’s battle with the disease,” said Cllr Foxcroft.
“Thank you to everyone who came along, and look out for details for the return of the evening in 2019.”
