AN MP visited staff at a new chemotherapy unit.

MP for Rossendale and Darwen Jake Berry met staff at Burnley General Hospital at the new chemotherapy and breast unit.

Mr Berry said it was a ‘privilege’ to meet the staff at the units, which opened in December.

He said: “It’s also great to hear about the multi-million pound investment including a new £15million ophthalmology and out-patients building as well as an extra 100 car parking spaces to make it easier for people visiting their family and friends.”

The Primrose Chemotherapy Suite and East Lancashire Breast Clinic are situated in the hospital’s Edith Watson building in area three.

The £75,000 facilities were partially paid for by £116,000 in public donations following a fundraising campaign organised by Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

The units provide more space than previous facilities and aim to improve treatment and experience for patients.

Patients will also be served by 10 dedicated parking spaces directly outside the Edith Watson entrance at the new facility.
