A youth community group based in Blackburn is running a jam-packed February half-term programme, featuring a range of sports, dance and arts activities.

SWITCH Youth Community Organisation will be hosting the holiday project from four different locations across Blackburn, from February 12 to 16.

Founder and chief executive, Sam Ali, 23, said: "It's not only about fun, laughter and enjoyment but to develop young people's skills, make new friends and bring people together from all backgrounds."

Sam added that the not-for-profit group, which opened last July, aims to 'inspire the next generation' by getting youngsters off the street and provide better opportunities for them to achieve their ambitions.

And the former professional footballer knows a thing or two about inspiring young people, after coaching Accrington Stanley defender, Zehn Mohammed, for seven years at Blackburn Youth Zone.

Speaking about the value of the new holiday programme, Sam added: "The importance of February half term is for Blackburn's young people to experience a new range of youth work, which involves structured activities and building programmes around their needs."

Partnering with trampoline park, Flip Out Blackburn, several prizes will be awarded to young people who take part in the holiday activities.

Available for 8 to 14-year-olds, prices are £15 per day or £60 for the full week.
