A SCHOOL has taken part in a week of activities to raise money for Children in Need and the Grenfell tower victims.

Darwen Aldridge Community Academy hosted a week of activities as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2017, the nation’s largest entrepreneurship-focused campaign.

This global event, which ran from November 13 to 19, encouraged students and staff, current and aspiring entrepreneurs to ‘Give it a Go', such as starting a business, seizing a new opportunity, finding out more about careers in enterprise or discovering a new way of learning.

DACA students came up with the idea of raising money by selling the coloured spots for the victims of the Grenfell Tower disaster who attend sister-school Kensington Aldridge Academy, also for and Children in Need.

The highlight of the week was the work of Year 12 students who, after being inspired by the global entrepreneur and artist Yayoi Kusami, built their own Obliteration Room, replicating her art installation at the Tate Modern in London.

Michelle Billington, Assistant Principal, said: “We are pleased to have celebrated Global Entrepreneurship week again this year. We enjoyed seeing our students, members of our local community and local businesses coming together”.
