ROSSENDALE and Darwen MP Jake Berry to speak about his role as Northern Powerhouse Minister at a business event next month.

His role in government involves boosting the region and securing government investment for it.

Mr Berry will speak at the next Blackburn with Darwen Hive Ambassadors Network meeting at 11.30am on Friday November 3.

The session at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy will hear from him on the plans for the Northern Powerhouse and the support available for businesses in the region. It is free to attend and open to non-members.

Mr Berry last week told a Tory conference fringe meeting: “I will be the voice of the north in government, not the voice of government in the north.”

Khalid Saifullah, Star Tissue director and Hive Chairman, said: “The Northern Powerhouse agenda is of massive importance to businesses in Blackburn and Darwen and we are all keen to hear from Mr Berry on the opportunities this will bring for us individually.

“There is already a wide range of support available for businesses in Lancashire, but many of our members are unaware of the breadth of this support.

“This event is an excellent opportunity for our local businesses to hear about the plans for the Northern Powerhouse and the breadth of support and opportunities this brings for our local area.”
