MENTAL health charity Lancashire Mind is working with faith based groups to help promote mental health awareness messages.

The 'With Faith in Mind' events will take place in Burnley and Darwen this month.

It will bring faith and mental health organisations together to connect, promote simple mental health awareness messages and share straightforward actions anyone can do to improve wellbeing.

During the event those attending will also explore what is already working well in the local area, hear positive stories about faith and mental health and create and share a toolkit to encourage others to run similar events.

It will take place at the Burnley and Pendle Faith Centre in Barden Lane on Thursday, October 12 and at the Central United Reformed Church in Duckworth Street, Darwen on Thursday, October 19 between noon and 3pm. The Darwen event will focus on support for asylum seekers and refugees.

Paul Smalley, community development for Lancashire Mind said: "We are working closely with Faith Action, Churches Together and other faith groups in Lancashire to explore mental health and, specifically, how churches and other faith groups can support their local communities by promoting the importance of mental health & wellbeing."
