A COLLEGE student is to have his artwork displayed at a Ribble Valley restaurant run by the award winning Northcote group.

Blackburn College student Martin Wilson, 36, won a commission to produce the photographs for The Three Fishes pub, near Mitton.

Martin said: “The origins of The Three Fishes title stems from the three rivers that meet around Mitton.

“After studying local maps, I focused on finding the best angles to showcase the landscape.

“I did fall in the River Ribble in pursuit of the perfect shot but luckily managed to keep my camera dry.

Having previously worked as an engineer for sixteen years, Martin embarked on a career change and is currently due to graduate with BA (Hons) in Photography at the end of the academic year.

“I can’t quite believe how much I have achieved in the last five years and this is such a fantastic opportunity for me. “To have so many images chosen for display was just amazing.”

Tutor Martyn Pearson said “When Nigel Howarth asked if we had any suitable students at Blackburn College to showcase the local landscape, Martin was the ideal candidate.”

“He is a hard-working, talented student who deserves recognition for his extensive efforts and professional attitude.”
