MORE than £8,000 has been granted to a Darwen park this year by the town council.
Cllr Dave Smith, leader of the council's parks committee, released what had been spent out of the £25,000 annual budget for parks.
The Whitehall Park Supporters Group was given £5,650 to make repairs to paths and £1,500 to remove trees and create an orchard.
That was on top of £691 given to the group for fencing the new community garden and £329 for catering equipment.
Money was only spent on Bold Venture Park and Ashton Park last year.
The Friends of Ashton Park also received £1,000 this year for a variety of signs and an information board and the Friends of Bold Venture Park were granted £5,800 for a three-year tree project.
The Friends of Sunnyhurst Woods got £3,840 for repair works to steps and paths and £1, 351 was granted to all parks for new by-law signs.
