A COMMUNITY centre is looking for more groups to make use of the building so volunteers can upgrade facilities.
Darwen Valley Community Centre in Sudellside Street is home to a Kung Fu club, a spiritualist church and an Alcoholics Anonymous group.
But the only way the centre earns money is from income from groups hiring out rooms.
Ray Hicks, a volunteer, said he would like to upgrade the kitchen and toilets which are both ‘outdated’ but needs more groups to make use of the space to create sufficient funds.
He said: “We’ve got some really lovely people working in the centre at the moment and I want to be able to get the facilities to a good standard so they can be more comfortable.
“But we will struggle to get the funds if more people don’t make use of the centre."
