A TEAM GB runner will be hosting a coaching session in Darwen for all those keen to take sport.

Former European gold medallist Jenny Meadows will be working with the Darwen Running Group on Saturday, April 8.

The 800m runner will be talking about her life before doing some running drills with attendees and hold a question and answer session at the end.

It will take place at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy at 10am and tickets cost £10 per person.

Neil Critchley, coach at Darwen Running Group, said: “This is going to be really exciting not just for the group but for the whole town.

“It’s not just for us, I hope that anyone who is interested in sport or running will come along.

“We’ve never had an athlete of this calibre work with us before so we are really looking forward to it.”

Meadows, who is from Wigan, won gold in the 800m at the European Indoor Championships in Paris in 2011.

She also grabbed a silver in that event in the 4x400m relay.

If anyone is interested in attending they can book by calling Mr Critchley on 07595 266646.
