A DARWEN brass band will be starting up a series of four concerts next month to get the people of East Lancashire in the mood for St Patrick’s Day.
Under the guidance of its new musical director Neil Samuel, Blackburn and Darwen Band will be performing the first concert of the series at the Thwaites Empire Theatre on Friday, March 17.
The performance will celebrate all things Celtic.
The band, which rehearses at Hollins Grove Church, will be joined by musicians from St Bede’s RC High School.
It will start at 7.30pm and tickets are available from www.thwaitesempiretheatre.co.uk for £8.
A date has also been set for the march and hymn tune contest in Darwen town centre, hosted by the band.
It will take place on Sunday, September 10, where groups from across the North West will be competing for cash prizes.
