A DISGRUNTLED jobcentre customer smashed a glass door panel as he left the Darwen office.

Blackburn magistrates heard John Eastham later told police he had been having problems with staff at the centre for weeks and had kicked out at the door because he was angry.

Eastham, 44, of Edmund Street, Darwen, pleaded guilty to causing £100 worth of damage to an internal door at Job Centre Plus. He was ordered to pay £200 compensation and £85 costs.

Chrissie Hunt, prosecuting, said Eastham had gone to the job centre for a pre-arranged appointment.

"He became frustrated and started to swear at a member of staff," said Miss Hunt. "He was followed towards the exit by security staff who saw him kick out and smash the glass door panel."
