A 20-YEAR-OLD Darwen woman was breathalysed after a “bizarre” set of circumstances eventually brought her to the attention of police.
Blackburn magistrates heard Lauren Grimes crashed into a parked car as she drove away from her boyfriend’s house after a row.

The court was told the owner of the parked car had arranged for a neighbour to take Grimes home after they had exchanged details.
She returned later with her dad to sort out the car but while they were at the scene her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend appeared quite by chance.
“She started having a go at my client and her father became so concerned he called the police,” said Ian Huggan, defending.
“They started asking questions to establish exactly what had happened and ended up breathalysing her. The circumstances which bring her here today are the most bizarre I have ever come across.”
Grimes, of Kingsway, Lower Darwen, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. She was banned for 12 months, fined £250 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
Mr Huggan said that after the crash the police had been contacted and told there had been an accident.
“They established nobody was injured and effectively said get on with it,” said Mr Huggan. “My client was taken home by the neighbour but was then taken back by her dad. Nobody suspected she was over the drink drive limit."
