A MAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Lower Darwen.

Police and ambulance were called to Greenfield View to reports of a man underneath a car at around 2pm on Saturday.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he was found to have fractured ribs, a collapsed lung, a broken leg, and injuries to his arm and shoulder.

Firefighters were also alerted to the scene but were not required to assist.

Insp Grant Smith said: "None are life-threatening and it would appear that he will make a full recovery."
