A HOST of stellar tribute acts are set to perform before hundreds in a charity event to support victims of the recent floods.

After seeing the devastation meted out in Whalley, Ribchester, Billington and other areas last month, Blackburn pub landlady Carole Davis decided to organise a fundraiser.

Carole, who runs the Clifton Arms, in Grimshaw Park, enlisted the help of Darwen tribute artist Andy Crosbie, who is famed for his Elton John act.

Carole said: "I think everyone was moved by seeing what the floods had done to our neighbours.

"Originally we were going to host it at the pub but with Andy's help we have recruited around 10 artists who are the best in the business.

"That meant we needed a bigger venue.

"Very kindly Darwen Aldridge Academy stepped in and are allowing us to use their hall and lighting rig for the event."

Andy has arranged for 10 of the area's biggest tribute acts to share the stage.

There will be Andy as Elton John and tributes to Gary Barlow, George Michael, Robbie Williams, Meatloaf, Beyonce, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Billy Idol and Freddie Mercury.

The event takes place on Sunday, January 24 from 4pm-8pm and is a family-friendly event.

Tickets are £7 for adults and £3.50 for children and their will be hot and cold soft drinks, hot dogs and burgers on sale.

There is capacity for 300 people and tickets can be obtained from the Clifton or by calling Carole on 07970 569020.

Carole said: "I'm sure it will be great fun with all the acts playing for free and people will be entertained while helping their neighbours down the road who are having a terrible time."
