A MAN is recovering in hospital after being found unconscious with head injuries on a street in Darwen.

The 48-year-old man from the town was found by family members in Highfield Mews near to Cross Barn Walk between 10.30pm and 11pm on Saturday, September 12.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains being treated for a bleed on the brain.

DC Nicola Ibbotson of Blackburn CID said: “It is unclear at this stage how the man came about the head injuries and we are looking into numerous lines of enquiry, including whether or not he was subject to an assault.

“I’m keen for anyone that may have witnessed what happened to get in touch with me on 01254 353561 or on 101 quoting log number 1603 of September 12.”

At the time the injured man was wearing a black vest top and black and white patterned shorts.
