THE fate of the Punch Bowl Inn near Darwen is set to be decided later this week by council planners.
Proposals have been put forward by Hearles Builders to demolish the former Roman Road hostelry and build ten homes.

The landmark venue, at the corner of Pothouse Lane, has been closed since March following the retirement of landlady Jean Powell.
Regulars had attempted to preserve the future of the building using new government legislation.
But brewers Thwaites, claiming the venture was no longer sustainable, exchanged contracts for the sale of the premises.
Members of the borough council’s development control committee will make a ruling on Thursday at Blackburn Town Hall. The plans are recommended for approval.
