POLICE investigating the accidental overdose of a Darwen man have released a second man on bail.

A 20-year-old man, who was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital after suffering hallucinations and seizures at Mayfield Flats in Bolton Road on Friday, yesterday remained in a critical condition.

On Monday officers executed a search warrant in Jubilee Street and found a quantity of tablets they think could be illegal drugs.

Tests were set to be carried out on what police believe is LSD. Warning others against taking the drug, officers released a picture of the suspected LSD — it showed yellow smiley faces on edible paper.

A 20-year-old man from Darwen arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply has been bailed until October 14 pending inquiries.

An 18-year-old man who was also arrested over the weekend has been released on police bail until October 20. Detective Inspector Eric Halford, of Blackburn CID, said he was still keen to hear from anyone who had information about the incident.

He said: “I am asking members of the public who may know of anyone who is involved in the production and supply of these items to pass this information to the police.”
