Resident John Bramham, 27, who lives in the street, said: “The concrete lamp post has been completely knocked down by the car.

“A few cars have been damaged and the car involved looked a mess.

“It was very lucky that it wasn’t around the time that children are walking to school. It gets very busy and someone could have easily been hurt.”

A police spokesman said: “We were called to Lomax Street at around 11am after we had a call from a member of the public saying that a car had collided with a lamp post.”
