A DARWEN man crashed his car into a lamp post after opting to drive to a friend’s house following a pub session.
Blackburn magistrates heard Craig Andrew Whittam, 45, was twice the drink drive limit when police breathalysed him.

They had found him trying to put the bumper that fell off his car into the boot.
Whittam, of Limes Avenue, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was fined £500 and ordered to pay £135 costs and banned from driving for 17 months.
Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said police were alerted by a member of the public that a car had crashed into a lamp post outside the Spinners Arms.
Damian Pickup, defending, said Whittam waited some time after leaving the pub and wrongly assumed he would be all right to drive.
