A spokesman for the club said: “Our trained run leaders appreciate the concerns you might have about running and joining a group.

“They have lots of fun ways of helping you progress, feel welcome and enjoy your running.

“This group is aimed at those who are completely new to running.

“Maybe they are wanting to start running short distances at a leisurely pace, or maybe they just want to keep fit. “We have held this course several times now and some of our graduates fondly refer to it as a life-changing experience.

“At the end of the course, most choose to progress to joining our running club to take part in the wide range of activities that we hold.”

Those who attend six beginners sessions and a further four of the Dashers’ club nights are eligible for half-price club membership.

The runs set off from Darwen Leisure Centre in Green Street at 6.30pm.

Darwen Dashers meets on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Sunnyhurst pub and anyone is welcome to go along and sign up.
