BLACKBURN with Darwen Council’s planning committee will consider a proposal to build eight detached homes in Crowthorn Road, Edgworth, on Thursday.

The plans have been submitted by Mr P Cummins in lieu of a previously approved development of eight terraced houses on the site.

The site is a vacant parcel of land to the north of Crowthorn Road, behind the former school buildings in Broadhead Road.

Planning permission already exists for eight five-bedroom houses granted on the site as part of the wider residential development of the school site.

However, consent has now been sought for eight detached homes with a front and rear garden space and off-street parking including garages and driveways.

In a letter to planning officers, Andrew Pexton of School Cottages said: “I have no objection to the planning application but would ask that it is appropriately conditioned so that the residents of adjoining properties are not inconvenienced.”

An objection has been sent in by the owners of Hill Top Farm that said: “I am horrified that even more rainwater is being funnelled down Wheatsheaf Brook as we are already experiencing landslip along the river banks caused by the existing redevelopment of the Crowthorn area.

“That together with raw sewage coming down the brook from Crowthorn is totally disgusting.”

Officers have recommended that councillors approve the development, subject to meeting conditions.
