Deacon Dave Keegan said: “Frozen contains many themes which are also present in the gospels. We are always looking for new and interesting ways to open doors onto the Christian faith and to help people better understand God. Frozen is ideal for this.

“Within the Frozen storyline are many themes that have parallels in the Christian faith such as sacrificial love, redemption and forgiveness.” Elsa’s struggle of being born different will also be one of the themes in the service.

“Often we see the differences between ourselves and others in a negative light when actually God knows and loves us for just who we are.”

The service will be in three parts starting with crafts for adults and children, then songs and clips from the film to help explain the themes and finally ending with a time of reflective worship based the highlighted themes.

Those attending are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite character if they wish and to sing along to the Frozen songs.

The musical film, which is based on the story of the Snow Queen, by Hans Christian Andersen, has been a huge hit among children and adults since it was released in 2013.

Youngsters have gone crazy for any memorabilia featuring Queen Elsa and her sister Anna, as well as Olaf the snowman and Sven the reindeer.

Some of the film’s songs, including Let it Go, sung by musical theatre queen Idina Menzel, and For the First Time In Forever, by Kristen Bell, have even featured in the Top 40 charts.

Frozen won two Oscars for best animated feature and best original song, the Golden Globe Award for best animated feature film. An animated short sequel, Frozen Fever, is due to be released in the spring.
