Blackburn woman jumped on housemate's leg in rage

A BLACKBURN woman jumped on a woman’s leg, breaking it in three places.

Preston Crown Court heard that Jade Hannan, of East Park Road, Blackburn got into an argument with one of the 17 female residents in the supported housing accommodation they shared.

The fight quickly escalated between the pair and in a fit of rage Hannan stamped on the leg of Megan Horner.

The heavy blow caused the victim’s leg to break in three places.

The victim was in pain for several months and had to have her leg set in plaster.

Hannan, 20, had pleaded guilty to wounding, inflicting grievious bodily harm at Blackburn Magistrates Court. Recorder Susan Hatfield sentenced her to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months.

She was also handed an 18 month supervision order where she will have to report to the probabtion service on a weekly basis.

Recorder Hatfield also ordered her to attend a six month alcohol treatment programme.

East Park Road is temporary accommodation provided by Blackburn with Darwen Council in partnership with Great Places Hosuing Group.

Young women aged between 16 and 25 suffering from substance abuse problems are offered help in setting up and maintain accommodation, domestic skills and counselling so they can beat their addictions.
