A DISQUALIFIED driver who agreed to do an errand for a cousin was stopped by police as he reversed off a car park.

Blackburn magistrates heard Mohammed Ashfaq claimed his solicitor had lodged an appeal against the disqualification and had told him he could drive.

Ashfaq, 23, of Tremellen Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance.

He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 200 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge. His disqualification was extended by nine months.

Gareth Price, defending, said Ashfaq had discussed appealing the original disqualification but no appeal had been lodged.
